The Steps To Keeping Your Teeth Healthy

Undergoing regular teeth cleaning and checkups is a vital step in maintaining your oral health, encompassing not only your teeth but also your gums and the entirety of your mouth, both internally and externally. This essential practice helps eliminate plaque, tartar, and bacteria responsible for tooth decay, gum disease, and persistent bad breath. Hygienists possess the expertise to access hard-to-reach areas that cannot be adequately addressed through routine brushing and flossing at home. A comprehensive cleaning and examination provide an ideal opportunity for hygienists and dentists to monitor your oral well-being, identifying and addressing issues before they escalate into painful and costly problems.

Furthermore, consistent teeth cleaning can naturally enhance the whiteness and brightness of your teeth, obviating the need for bleaching treatments. This process accomplishes the following:

  • Removes plaque, a sticky substance housing bacteria that erode your enamel.
  • Eliminates tartar buildup, which is hardened plaque capable of leading to gum disease.
  • Eradicates stains from substances like coffee, tea, or other sources.
  • Detects signs of receding gums, chipped or broken teeth, as well as other indicators of disease and infection.

Healthy Gums

Frequently underestimated, yet incredibly vital, your gums are the unsung heroes that bolster your teeth and define your smile. During your checkup, we’ll conduct a thorough evaluation of your tongue, gums, teeth, and all other oral regions, with a special emphasis on the gum line to ensure your mouth is in the best possible health, free from any signs of inflammation or looming gum disease. We promise to be understanding about your flossing routines.

Plaque and Taratr

Plaque, a soft and adhesive film, gradually builds up on your teeth. Without regular and thorough brushing, flossing, and professional intervention, it can solidify into tartar deposits. Tartar tends to appear darker in color and is commonly found in difficult-to-clean areas like the gumline. Our hygienists possess the expertise and specialized tools to meticulously remove stubborn plaque and tartar from these hard-to-reach spots. Once this step is completed, we can give your teeth a final polish to eliminate stains and leave them shining brightly.

Dentist Exam

Once your teeth have been professionally cleaned, it’s an ideal moment for your dentist to conduct a thorough examination. Your dentist will review your dental history and x-rays, paying close attention to any trouble spots or recurring issues. Depending on their findings, your dentist may recommend additional treatments or provide valuable guidance on how to combat or slow down tooth decay, inflammation, or gum disease. If you have any questions or have experienced discomfort, sensitivity, or dental pain, please don’t hesitate to share your concerns with us. We’re here to assist you.

The Cost of A Cleaning In Wake Forest

For individuals with standard insurance coverage, the majority of expenses will typically be handled by your insurance provider. If you lack insurance, you can anticipate out-of-pocket costs ranging from $150 to $500.

When evaluating the expenses associated with your treatment, it’s essential to consider several key factors:

  • Your current oral health condition.
  • The necessity for any new X-rays.
  • The expertise of the hygienist conducting the procedure.
  • The caliber of equipment and technology employed during the procedure.

Frequently Asked Questions

Our standard recommendation is to come in every six months for teeth cleaning and a checkup. However, in cases of specific dental requirements, your dentist might recommend more frequent visits, or we may adjust the appointment schedule based on insurance or cost considerations.

Act without delay! If you’re encountering any mouth pain or discomfort, don’t wait – call us immediately! While cleanings are a great time for preventive measures, we’re always here to address concerns, no matter the time. Even if your issue seems minor, please inform us promptly so we can address it in its early stages.

Absolutely. Checkups are designed to evaluate the health of your entire mouth, encompassing your gums, tongue, bones, and more. If you wear dentures, we still recommend regular visits to ensure the condition and fit of your dentures are optimal and to assess the overall health of your mouth.

Dental cleanings usually take around 30 minutes to an hour on average and are administered while you’re comfortably seated in a dental chair.

Opt for toothpaste that includes fluoride and is designed for tartar control. While proper toothbrushing is crucial, the indispensable tool for removing plaque between your teeth and keeping tartar at bay in those hard-to-reach zones is dental floss. Maintain a daily routine by using an antiseptic mouthwash to effectively eliminate bacteria responsible for plaque formation.

The most effective way to uphold the progress made by your dentist is to keep brushing and flossing your teeth regularly after a cleaning.

Best Dentist in the area. Great hygienists and the dentists always take the time to discuss any areas of improvement or concern. Other places I feel like they are rushing you in and out as quickly as possible. I have recommended at least 4 people to go there and they all love it. If Baker or Upton are unsure of the best course of treatment, they will call other specialists to get their opinion. My wife went to 3 other dentists before Baker, and he was able to figure out the issue after a week. I can not recommend them enough.

Highly recommend. As someone who finds dental work very aversive, Dr. Baker and Kelly were awesome. The whole team was so welcoming and the work itself was a breeze compared to previous experiences elsewhere.

Just had my second visit to Dr. Upton. On my first visit, Dr. and his assistant, Jessica, did a thorough evaluation of my situation. He asked me questions about my dental history and actually listened carefully to my concerns. Then he left to review my x-rays and options for treatment. When he returned, he gave me some options, which I REALLY appreciated. He even took into consideration my dietary habits and the fact I don't like prescription medications. Not even my physicians gave me that kind of concern!! Today I had my tooth pulled out and he took into consideration my financial situation and did it under local anesthesia, where my previous experience was done under general anesthesia. It was less expensive and totally tolerable. I'm glad that he considers the whole patient, the tolerance to pain, the budget and the treatment preferences. I also appreciate that he sat on a stool and spoke to me face to face. His office staff, Jessica, Megan and Priscilla are all equally attentive and considerate. Thank you everyone 💓! Yes, I would recommend their services to anyone in need of dental care.
